These Terms govern your use of Aretos, a 1v1 running duel app for runners in Köln and Düsseldorf. By creating an account, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
You must be at least 16 years old to use Aretos. By signing up, you confirm you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and consented to these Terms.
Aretos lets you create and accept running duels against other users, tracked via GPS and/or Apple Health, with results based on distance. There is no real-money wagering, no in-app purchases, and no way to bet anything of monetary value on a duel.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You may not impersonate someone else or create an account for anyone but yourself. You may not create more than one account per person.
Duels are meant to reflect real runs. Do not fake distance or pace — for example by driving, GPS-spoofing, or manipulating Health data. We use motion data to help detect this and may void duel results or suspend accounts that abuse the system.
Do not harass, threaten, or send abusive messages to other users. Use the in-app block and report tools if you experience this. We may act on reports, including removing content, suspending, or terminating accounts, in line with our notice-and-action process for illegal content under the EU Digital Services Act.
Chat messages, runner names, and similar content remain yours, but you give us the right to store and display it within the app as needed to run the service.
Aretos is not a medical device and provides no medical advice. Running is a physical activity with inherent risks. Consult a doctor before starting any new exercise programme, particularly if you have a pre-existing health condition. You participate in duels entirely at your own risk.
Aretos is provided "as is." We do not guarantee GPS accuracy, uninterrupted availability, or that the app is bug-free. Do not rely on it for anything safety-critical.
To the extent permitted by law, Aretos is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under German or EU law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
You can delete your account at any time via Profile → Settings → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, particularly for cheating or abuse.
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified via the email address on your account at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by German law, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence if you are an EU consumer.
